A Journey of a Thousand Miles…

“Don’t wait for good things to come, go out and make them happen”

– unknown

Although in this case, I did wait. Otherwise the customs officers would likely not have let me in the country. Nevertheless, the planning and hard work has finally culminated, and I have made it safe and sound in Berlin. Thanks to the support of family and friends (yes, you!), and guidance from GoAbroad (check out my author page!), I have taken my first step into Germany and begun my month-long journey as an amateur writer for City Travel Review. Albeit via a very long first day.

While waking up at 4:30am wasn’t really that bad, arriving in Berlin two flights, nineteen hours, and zero sleep later makes one ready to head straight back to bed. Which would have been fine, if I were still in Colorado, where the time was 11:30pm. Not in Berlin, where it is 7:00am. Luckily, that’s what first days are for – napping. Between naps, however, I did manage to check out the nearest grocery store, meet my two flat mates, and even tackle the tram to venture to a hip yet homey coffee shop (per flat-mate Ken’s suggestion) where I already decided I will become a soon-to-be-regular.

Tomorrow marks the start of scheduled program days, but in the meantime, here are some photos of my home for the next month…
